Our board members are representative of the communities and patients we serve. Each is a highly respected professional with demonstrated leadership in his or her field, representing careers in medicine, human resources, investment banking, law and more.
Gayle Appel Doll, PhD, FGSA, GAGHE
Dr. Doll is the former director of the Center on Aging at Kansas State University. Between 2005 and 2021 she led academic and research programs and taught advanced level gerontology courses. Her research focused on person-centered care in nursing homes. In 2013 she authored a book, Sexuality in Long-Term Care and has been interviewed and featured in many national organizations, through magazines, articles and podcasts. She retired briefly and has spent time with her passions, a husband, three sons and their families, gardening, traveling and painting. In 2023 she was asked to return to the College of Health and Human Sciences as an adjunct associate dean for academics and faculty affairs. She oversees graduate programs, curriculum and course changes, and several faculty programs. Doll brings an extensive knowledge of personalization of care for older adults as well as a wealth of administrative experience to the PACE board of managers.
Pastor Jackie D. McCall, M.Div.
Rev. Jacqueline McCall is the Associate Pastor at St James Church in Kansas City, Mo. After over 20 years working with Fortune 500 companies in various areas of financial and client services, Jacqueline wrestled with the idea that there was more she was supposed to do. Eventually, she discerned her call to ministry.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in French/ International Business from Clark Atlanta University and her Master of Divinity from Duke University. She also earned 5 units of Clinical Pastoral Education from Barnes Jewish Hospital and the US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) where she worked as a Chaplain Resident in St. Louis, Mo. At the VA, she taught spirituality classes and provided spiritual counseling to patients with acute issues and substance abuse/mental health disorders.
Jeron Ravin, J.D.
As President and CEO of Swope Health, Jeron Ravin leads strategic direction for the organizaion. Jeron previously served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Community Health Center Association of Mississippi where he worked to strengthen Mississippi community health centers by overseeing policy, marketing & branding, workforce development, clinical quality improvement, outreach and enrollment, and health information technology. He also provided training and technical assistance.
Mark Miller
Mark Miller leads all behavioral health functions including outreach, community support, substance abuse treatment, and residential services at Swope Health.
His experience includes chief operating officer of the Center for Behavioral Medicine in Kansas City.
In 1998 Mark was elected first African American president of the University of Missouri Alumni Association.
He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Missouri.
Naimish Patel
Naimish Patel oversees all budgeting, strategic financial planning and business decision support analysis for Swope Health.
He earned an MBA from University of Missouri-Kansas City and is a certified public accountant.
Patel is a member of the Health Care Financial Management association and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Shelley B Bhattacharya, DO, MPH
Dr. Shelley Bhattacharya is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine with a subcertification in geriatric medicine. She completed a fellowship at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh. She earned her medical degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh. Dr. Bhattacharya is committed to providing excellent compassionate care to the Kansas City community. She specializes in geriatric medicine and works at Landon Center on Aging.
Tom Kokjer
Tom Kokjer, who serves as Finance Chair for Swope Health’s Board of Directors, grew up in Kansas City and attended Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., where he graduated with honors. He began and ended his professional finance career at Commerce Bank in Kansas City, finishing as the Division Manager for the Commerce Bank Capital Markets Group. In between, Tom was a Senior Trading Manager for two Federal Reserve designated primary dealers in U.S. treasury debt.
Tom has been a member of the Swope Health Board of Directors since 2017.
Tom also serves as Treasurer of The Diocese of West Missouri.
